We are excited to announce an international conference on the Acts of the Council of Nicaea I (325), to be held in Issenheim, Alsace, from September 3 to 5, 2025. This conference will examine whether official records of the council’s proceedings ever existed and explore how both authentic and forged documents have shaped the reception of Nicaea across various Christian traditions, Coptic included.
Keynote speakers include Alessandro Bausi, Costanza Bianchi, Alberto Camplani, Thomas Graumann, and Uta Heil. The conference welcomes contributions addressing mentions of the Acts of Nicaea in ancient and medieval literature, textual traditions (Greek, Latin, Coptic, Syriac, Ethiopian, etc.), and the history of the Council’s canons and signature lists.
Abstract submissions are due by March 1, 2025, to R. Gounelle (rgounelle@unistra.fr) and C. Guignard (c.guignard@unistra.fr).
For details, please see the attached official announcement.
